Knitters! Did you know that last Saturday was World Wide Knit in Public Day? We missed it, but all is not lost. You can knit in public anytime! Just grab your needles and yarn (or your Knook) and head out into the world! You can knit in public in the park, in waiting rooms (those waiting rooms where we all seem to spend so much time), at the lake, in a restaurant while you’re waiting on your food, on the bus…Who knows…you might make some new friends!To belatedly celebrate Knit in Public Day, I thought I’d reshare a little free knitting pattern that you could work on anywhere:
CUP COZY FREE KNITTING PATTERNFinished Size: 81/4" wide x 31/4" tall (21 cm x 8.25 cm)MATERIALS
Bulky Weight Yarn
[3 ounces, 135 yards (85 grams, 123 meters) per skein]: 1 skein
Straight knitting needles, size 101/2 (6.5 mm) or size needed for gauge
Yarn needle
1-1/8" (29 mm) Button (optional)
GAUGE: In Stockinette Stitch, 6 sts and 8 rows = 2" (5 cm)Cast on 25 sts.
Rows 1-5: Knit across.
Row 6: Purl across.
Row 7 (Right side): Knit across.
Row 8: Purl across.
Rows 9-13: Knit across.
Bind off all sts in knit, leaving a long end for sewing.Thread yarn needle with long end and sew end of rows together to form a “ring”.Using photo as a guide for placement, add button if desired.Designer friend Anne created this free knitting pattern just for you (with a little help from Linda, one of our Knit & Crochet technical editors).
